How to get to Palma de Mallorca

By plane

The plane is undoubtedly the quickest way to reach Mallorca. The airport San Joan is modern and well equipped, and it is served by numerous flights from the major European capitals.
During summer season Mallorca airport becomes one of the most crowded airports in Spain, with flights mostly connecting the island with German and English cities. Also the low-cost market has lately increased. Generally speaking, low cost companies are based in the outer locations of the airport, this is why we suggest to take into account longer times for transfers.

To and from the airport
San Joan lies about 8 km from the city capital Palma de Mallorca, to which it is connected by means of the highway.
Car rental
At the airport operates various car rental companies. The most important ones have their offices situated in proximity of the structure, while the cheapest companies offer a transfer service from the airport to the fleet of cars.
Taxi
The taxi area is just outside the airport, and it is well indicated by street signs.
Bus
The airport is connected to the capital centre by line 1. Bus rides leave every 15 minutes, with departure from the airport station. Price is about €1.80. Traffic on the highway is generally intense, so the time needed for the journey from the airport to the city is very variable.

Reaching Palma de Mallorca by car from Europe is possible only with a lot of time available. From Italy it is possible to reach France through the Montgenevre pass, or through the border with Liguria, following the highway A12 Genoa. From here take the E80, the E15 from Narbonne direction Barcelona. If you don’t want to spend the whole day in queue, try to avoid the coast road, especially in proximity of the most exclusive resorts of France and Italy.

From the border with Spain, in proximity of Le Perthus, in Barcellona, there are still 150 km ahead. Once you get to Barcelona you need to follow the junction ((Ronda del Ritolar) and take the exit to the "Port". Ferry boats connect directly Barcelona with the port of Palma and AlcĂądia.
